Melcon Controls offers conventional dry-type transformers that are suitable for power distribution system, industrial use and indoor use. We can design and manufacture transformers to a maximum voltage of 1000V and a maximum output power of 500 kVA. Isolation transformers work in a similar manner as conventional dry-type transformers. However, instead of containing just the primary and secondary windings, an isolation transformer also contains electromagnetic (EMT) shield at the transformer's core to help protect the equipments that the transformer is connected to. The shield works by preventing any high frequency noise or signals, from the primary side, from being induced into the secondary winding and any sensitive equipments that may be connected to the systems.

K-factor transformers are designed to withstand harmonic currents, generally caused by non-linear loads that are connected to the main supply. These harmonic currents are usually the source of overheating issues in the cable and induction motors. They also increase the losses in the transformers.
Our K-factor transformer can help reduce the heating effect of harmonic currents by using conductors that are able to carry the harmonic currents of non-linear loads without exceeding the temperature rating of the insulation. They also compensate for stresses on a transformer's winding insulation which prevents insulation breakdown and premature failure.
